One Sunday a month at 7pm, we feature an exceptional artist with new work in development at the iconic restaurant/cabaret Pangea @ 178 2nd Avenue in Manhattan’s East Village.
On June 22nd, we present…
SHINE: Nowhere But Right Now Jonathan describes this set as ‘lullabies for a world on fire’ – songs to soothe, comfort, and uplift all of us yearning for levity and security. Featuring music by Sondheim, John Denver, Truth “Future” Bachman, and selections from Jonathan’s EP Shine, the bulk of the evening contains premiere performances of songs by Emil Adler and Julie Flanders, members of the pop band October Project. Music directed by Jonathan’s friend and frequent collaborator Keiji Ishiguri (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Klub).
Praised for “electrifying” (Rough Draft Atlanta) and “glorious voiced” (Times Square Chronicles) performances in roles including Coalhouse in Ragtime and Collins in Rent, Broadway baritone Jonathan Christopher (Sweeney Todd, Hamilton National Tour) explores themes of connection, freedom, hope, and light in SHINE: Nowhere But Right Now.
Jonathan has gone through a hefty transformation over the past few years! With various personal dilemmas, moving countries, touring the US, to making his Broadway debut two years ago, all along a backdrop of a vastly changing world, Jonathan felt detached from it all. So, he began an endeavor to explore methods of reconnecting with the present, people, and himself, realizing he could be an instrument of light and connection in the process.

The Brothers Orphan
Packed with funny, bawdy and touching true tales told by “natural raconteur” (Washington Post) TikTok sensation, and 6-time Moth storytelling champ Jamie Brickhouse, The Brothers Orphan is a darkly comic show of sibling rivalry and revelry.
